1948 Plymouth Special Deluxe in Canada    Back

Hi Chet, My name is Brian Barnes and I own a 1948 Special Deluxe.

This car is a special part of our family.  It has been to our son Adams graduation, our son Jeff's wedding, and was the welcome home ride for my daughter and son in law on their return to Canada.   This car, or "Ol Bob" as we affectionately call it, is in excellent shape.  It ran like a piece of crap when I first got it, but I am an old hand in the points and condenser dept.  I ran a new line to the carb and installed a new vacuum advance.  It now starts like a charm, and idles so quiet you have to be quiet to see if it is running.  I have to send the rocker moldings away to be rechromed, and it will be complete.  It does not have a clock in it, and I am currently searching for one.  This old 48 is a pleasure to drive, it shifts like a dream, and stops with ease.  I am really aware of "gawkers" behind me that don't see the trunk brake light... had a near miss last summer.  An old fart that I hang around with told me he had a 46 years ago, and wired the brake light to the signals.  Might look into that.  My car is all original, except I converted the old oil bath air filter.  It now takes a Fram filter, and looks just as original, and works like a new car.     For more info email:  brian.barnes@sympatico.ca
